Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects involved in a shootout over serious dispute in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this on Sunday said two of the persons involved were brothers.
He said one of the victims who sustained injury was rescued, while AK47 rifle, a pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene of the incident.
He said, “In the evening of 12th April 2025, Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu responded swiftly at the scene of a shooting incident in Ukwulu and prevented the situation from escalating further.
“The Operatives rescued a victim with a gunshot injury, recovered one AK47 rifle, one pistol, and six (6) rounds of live ammunition. Two suspects were also arrested at the scene.
“Meanwhile, the suspects are already undergoing, Police interrogations while the victim was taken to the hospital and is responding to medical treatment.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that both the victim and the armed suspect who sought the assistance of another, are brothers and have been having a serious misunderstanding.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation. Further details shall be communicated in due course.”
