Anambra Govt Begins Sensitization of Citizens on Development Initiatives

Anambra State government plans to embark on a townhall meeting aimed at sensitizing the people about government programmes and activities.

The Commissioner for Information, Doctor Law Mefo stated this when members of the Anambra state House of Assembly Comittee on Information went on a familiarization tour to his office at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Awka.

According to the Commissioner, the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration will be meeting with critical stakeholders in all the communities to discuss various issues including letting them know what the government is doing to better their lots.

He noted that the townhall stakeholders meeting will be held soonest before the electioneering periods will kickstart as the move was not in anyway for campaigns but to let the people get abreast of the projects and need to protect government facilities in their areas.

He said the idea is to depeen democracy and give the people opportunity to be part and parcel of governance.

The Commissioner for Information told the law makers that clear absence of facilities and tools to work were part of the challenges confronting the Ministry.

The Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Information, Mr Fred Ezenwa remarked that the visit was to interface with the Ministry with a view to working together for the overall interest of the state.

Mr Ezenwa who represents Onitsha South Constituency 1 said the Committee will continue to liaise to ensure that appropriated funds were properly utilized by all the MDAs.

Other members of the Committee including Mr Golden Ilo of Ihiala Constituency 2 and Engineer Emma Nwafor of Orumba South constituency took their turns to commend the Commissioner for Information for how he has been able to put to use the funds appropriated for them.
