Anambra Police to Partner SWAN to organise Sports Competition for Markets

Anambra Police Command, has pledged to partner with Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Anambra State Chapter to organise sports competitions with the market community and relevant stakeholders to enhance the Police’s relationship with the public, thus promoting a sense of community bonding and trust.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikioye Orutugu made the proposal when he received members of SWAN Anambra State Chapter in his office at the Police Headquarters, Amawbia.

He noted that this initiative is a great way to promote social cohesion and improve communication between law enforcement and the public.

According to the CP, the competition will create a positive and engaging environment for the public, and by so doing showcase the importance of sports in building bridges between law enforcement and the community.

In his remark, the Chairman of the SWAN Anambra State Chapter Mr Chimezie Patrick Ananso thanked the CP for receiving the Association and expressed readiness to partner with the Command to actualize its goals.

He informed CP Orutugu that the Association has enjoyed cordial relationship with the command and they are looking forward to the continuation of the relationship.

He promissed that SWAN Anambra State Chapter will do their best to support the laudable initiative.

Also reacting, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) SP. Tochukwu Ikenga noted that CP Orutugu’s commitment to community policing and public engagement is evident in his efforts to partner with various stakeholders, to end violent crimes in Anambra State.

Consequently, the Command and SWAN, Anambra State chapter will be reviewing the proposal to enable them select the participants and the theme of the competition.

Other SWAN members that accompanied the chairman include Pamela Ebo (Vice Chairman), Uche Ndeke (Secretary) Marvelous Ezenwa (Treasurer), Ikemefuna Asika (Vice President SE Zone), Chukwuka Ugokwe and Maduabuchi Onwumelu.
