FG Flags Off Metallurgical and Steel Bootcamp Training for 700 Youths in Anambra

700 youths selected from states across Nigeria have commenced boot camp training at the Metallurgical Training Institute Onitsha, Anambra State.

The Bootcamp featuring practical training on welding and babrication, Industrial Metallurgy, Insumentation System Control, and Mechanical maintenance is design to boost manpower in steel and metallurgical sector.

The Permenent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Steel Development , Dr. Chris Isokpunwu, who made the disclosure during the commencement of the training said participants would be empowered with starter packs upon successful completion of the training.

According to him, the ministry was taking deliberate steps to reposition the steel and metals industry as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic transformation.

Isokpunwu noted that infrastructure alone cannot drive industrialization but the true strength of any economy lies in its people, their skills, expertise, and determination.

He explained that it was for this reason that the Ministry of Steel Development put together the intensive bootcamp training, aimed at equipping the youths across the country with the technical know-how and hands-on experience necessary to thrive in this critical industry.

In a remark , the Director Metallurgical Training Institute, MTI, Onitsha, Dr. Felix Obi commended the unwavering commitment of Presidnet Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration towards youth empwerment, skills development and Industrial growth in Nigeria.

According to Dr. Obi, the bootcamp training was a direct reflection of the resolve of government in creating jobs, fostering innovation and revitalizing the nation’s steel and manufacturing sectors.

The Director Metallurgical Inspectorate Department, Ministry of Steel Development, Mr Frederick Ewa explained that 253, 838 Nigerians applied for the training online while 700 of them were selected from across the country for the exercise which will be done in batches .

According to him, though huge amount was being expended for the training including feeding, consumables and starter packs, paucity of fund limited the number of participants selected for the Boot Camp.
