As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to screen its governorship aspirants in Anambra State on March 7-8, 2025, all eyes are on Sir Paul Chukwuma, a steadfast party leader whose contributions have strengthened the party’s presence in the state.

A founding member of the APC, Sir Paul Chukwuma has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the party’s growth, serving in key capacities such as Zonal Youth Leader and National Auditor. His tenure in these roles was marked by strategic leadership, grassroots mobilisation, and financial prudence, all of which have today played a crucial role in positioning APC as a formidable force in Anambra politics.

Chief Ifeanyi Ibezi, a former member of the House of Representatives and Director-General of Sir Paul Chukwuma Primary Election Campaign Council, expressed confidence in his capabilities, stating that “his rich credentials and huge contributions to the growth of the party will speak for him.”

Beyond his official roles, Sir Paul Chukwuma has supported the party, fostering unity among members and spearheading initiatives that have expanded APC’s influence across the state. His ability to galvanise support and his deep understanding of party structures make him a strong contender in the race.

Sir Paul Chukwuma will be facing screening alongside six other aspirants, including Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, Chief JohnBosco Onunkwo, Chief Valentine Ozigbo, and Chief Edozie Madu. The APC realised N350 million from selling expressions of interest and nomination forms to these aspirants. The screening exercise will assess their academic qualifications, political experience, party membership and contributions, and statutory compliance, including tax obligations.

Remaining optimistic as the process unfolds, Sir Paul Chukwuma believes his dedication to the party and the state will speak for itself. Should he secure clearance, he will be well-positioned to make a compelling case for his candidacy in the April 5, 2025, primary election.

The screening results are scheduled to be announced on March 10, 2025, with appeals, if any, being heard on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Party faithful and political observers eagerly anticipate the next phase of this keenly contested race.
