Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has sacked the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chikodili Anara (Igbak’igba) over alleged incompetence.

The dismissal is coming barely six months after sacking his Information counterpart, Paul Nwosu over similar allegations.

A source close to Government House revealed that the sack might not be unconnected to the appointment of Prince Ken Emeakayi as Special Adviser on Community Security which rendered Anara’s position redundant, given Emeakayi’s successes in securing the state.

According to the source, the actual reason for Anara’s dismissal was his failure to secure the State from criminals despite available state funds.

“This led to the establishment of the State Agunaechemba team, which has shown success against unscrupulous elements in the state.

“Technically, Anara was sacked the moment Prince Ken Emeakayi was appointed Special Adviser on Community Security. Soludo could no longer tolerate the growing insecurity under Anara’s watch.

“Ameakayi is working silently and has recorded huge success in his operations so far. So, there was no need to keep another person for the same role,” the source said.

Another source however claimed the sacked Commissioner resigned during the last state executive council meeting.

“The Governor prefers to give officials a “soft landing” by allowing them to resign rather than being openly sacked,” the source opined.

In recent efforts to secure Anambra State, Governor Soludo launched the Udo Ga-achi security outfit and signed the Anambra 2025 Homeland Security Law.

This law has helped rid the state of criminals and evil native doctors, promoting a safer environment for residents.
