The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr. Ikioye Orutugu has stressed the need for synergy between security agencies and the necessity to eliminate inter-agency rivalry, particularly among junior personnel, to foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and cooperation.
Orutugu made this known when he visited TState Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
He described NSCDC as very key to the success of the force, in view of its limitless powers stressing the need to leverage on that especially in information sharing and collaboration.
” I want us to make a change, let Anambra residents know we mean business. NSCDC is very key to our success, your powers are limitless and we need to leverage on that especially in information sharing and collaboration,” he said.
CP Orutugu expressed gratitude to Commandant Maku for the warm reception accorded him.
He stated that his visit was to formally introduce himself following his assumption of duty as the new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State and to foster enhanced cooperation between the two security agencies.
“It is a privilege standing before you as the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State. As tradition demands, my coming here today is to familiarize and strengthen the synergy existing between us” he echoed.
Responding, Commandant Maku Olatunde highlighted the need for improved inter-agency collaboration to effectively address the complex security challenges facing the state.
He acknowledged the importance of the visit which signified a renewed commitment to foster synergy between the two security agencies in the state, assuring the new CP of his readiness to work closely with him to promote peace and security in the state.
“I am happy to receive you today, I feel honoured you count us worthy to be visited less than 24 hours after your assumption of duty.
“For us in NSCDC, we highly regard the Nigerian Police Force as a close dependable ally who on so many occasions have collaborated with us in Tactical Operations, Sting Operations and General duties” he said.
Commandant Maku wished the new CP a successful tour of duty, expressing confidence in his ability to further cement the superb and cordial relationship already existing between the two agencies.
“I welcome you to Anambra State, from your antecedents,it shows that you are here to work, also with your vast experience, I am sure you will fit in very well. Your tour of duty ,I am optimistic will be interesting and rewarding” he added.
The courtesy visit ended with discussions on how both agencies can effectively address security challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of Anambra residents.
