Engineer supervising construction work on the 3-storey building that collapsed Wednesday evening in Awka, Anambra State was rescued alive with two workers.
The site engineer who simply gave his name as Mr Stanley said he was trapped in the building alongside other two workers, and three of them were immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital where they received treatment.
He made the disclosure while speaking with Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim during his visit to the scene of the incident.
Speaking during the visit, Ibezim cautioned developers against using substandard materials in construction of buildings, attributing them to the frequent cases of building collapse in this part of the world.
He warned builders to exercise caution when erecting structures and avoid actions that could endanger human lives.
Present at the scene during the visit were team from Ministry of Health, Fire Service officials, among others.
