Scores Burnt in Petrol Tanker Explosion at Ugwu Onyeama Highway, Enugu

Scores of travellers have been burnt beyond recognition following a devastating petrol tanker explosion at Ugwu Onyeàmà section of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The explosion, which occurred around 11:30AM on Saturday, reportedly rattled nearby passenger vehicles causing significant damage and deaths.
According to eyewitness account, the tanker, which was Transporting Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise called fuel, exploded while attempting to navigate the expressway.
It is unclear what caused the tanker to catch fire or the actual number of casualties.
The magnitude of the explosion and the ensuing fire made it difficult for passersby to reach the site quickly.
