Gunmen Abduct Medical Doctor Near NAUTH, Nnewi

A medical doctor with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra State, Collinus Onuigbo has been kidnapped by gunmen.

The victim said to be a neurosurgeon was kidnapped in front of his home in the industrial city on Tuesday night, just close to the teaching hospital.

Though information about demand for ransom by the abductors were still sketchy, the family was reportedly making efforts to secure his release.

A source said: “The family is already working to pay for the release of the man, and I think they have refused to tell the police about this development.”

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who confirmed the incident, said efforts were on to ensure the immediate release of the doctor.

“Yes, I’m aware of the kidnap. We have already mobilized for the rescue of the doctor. The commissioner, CP Obono Enaghe Itam has given orders for this, and men of the command are currently at work,” he said.
