CHAIRMAN of Anambra West Local Government, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor has expressed concern over the harrowing experiences and challenges faced by displaced residents across the council area.
Hon. Nnazor spoke, as the entire Anambra West was submerged by flood water leaving families displaced and without essential necessities.
AnambraDaily gathered that besides loss of crops and valuables to the flood, most families were trapped in their various places without food, water and other essential needs.

Speaking to AnambraDaily reporter on the flood crisis in the local government, Hon. Nnazor stated that the state and local government authorities were trying their best to cater for the needs of the displaced citizens. He, however, stresses that government alone cannot effectively take care of the affected persons, thereby calling for collective assistance.

He appealed to the State government, Non Governmental Organizations and good spirited individuals to come to aid of displaced citizens.

According to him, the local government authorities had provided two camps for the flood victims. The camp were at the Bishop Ajayi Crowther Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Onitsha and Unity Hall, Nneyi, Umueri.

He Also, stated that the flood victims had been provided with food, essential materials by the local government authorities.

Nnazor, however, decried the refusal of some of the displaced persons to leave their homes and communities and come to the camps provided by the local government authorities.

He stated that he was optimistic that that would no longer be the case as the Deputy Mayor alongside the President Generals (PGs) of communities in the local government have visited the communities to assure the people of the council readiness to see that they were well taken care of at the camps.
