ANAMBRA Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday delivered a rallying battle cry to APGA candidates and members ahead of September 28 Local Government election. Like Army General leading his troop to an epic battle, Soludo stood on the podium inside the Alex Ekwueme Square, venue of the mega rally to charge cheering members of the rilling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA to go for all-out victory at the poll.
With other political parties vying for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions across the 21 local government areas either pulled out or failed to register candidates for the election, Prof. Soludo must have sensed victory already, just waiting for the formality of the poll.
“APGA is Anambra, and Anambra is APGA. This is a promise made and a promise kept,” he declared in his characteristic tone.
“The conduct of the local government election is a promise made and a promise kept, even though many did not believe it during the campaigns. We promised to build the institutional mechanism and legal framework, ” he stressed.
Governor Soludo further revealed that about nine political parties are participating in the elections, but only APGA has fielded candidates in all elective positions.
Amidst speculation that another faction of APGA under the leadership of Chief Edozien Njoku also fielded candidates for the forthcoming council polls, Soludo Insisted that the party remain “intact and one united, indivisible, strong political party under the chairmanship of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa” .
In what appeared to be an invitation to members of the other faction, Soludo said: “We are ready to partner with everyone. We are moving to the next stage of local government administration in Anambra State,” he said.
