A foremost contender for the royal stool of Oba kingdom in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Barr. Vincent Chukwuma Ananti has condemned the September 3, 2024 terror attacks on the town’s civic center and a Divisional Police Headquarter that led to death of a police officer.

‘Aninepungwu’ as Ananti is fondly called, made the call during an inspection tour of the facility alongside President of Isu Akanato Quarter, Nze Henry Elosiuba (Ozogidigbam), Vice President and Former National Youth Council of Nigeria Idemili South LGA Chapter Chairman, Comrade Kingsley Muoemenam among others.

While commiserated with the police and the people of Oba over the bloody attack allegedly carried out by yet to be identified gunmen, Ananti urged indigenes of the town to close ranks to rebuild the damaged facility as well as foster unity and sustainable development.

“This incident is terrible, unheard of and a mystery to Oba people. We hear of such attacks on Police check points, station, LGA Secretariat. Nevertheless, I do not subscribe to people casting aspersions rather if anyone has proofs or any information that will aid investigation or unravel what happened to our Civic Center, let it be brought forward. We pray that the police will come up with findings soonest”.

“We call on Oba people to brace up, come together let us rebuild our town hall. The Regent, President Generals, Presidents of village Quarters, Chairmen, Kindred Heads, all hands should be on deck to resuscitate our Civic Center”.

According to him, there was need to erect a perimeter fence around the Civic Center with a gate, install solar powered camera around that area to illuminate the surroundings and scare criminals away.

“The Vigilante operatives and Police need to be equipped and insurance scheme established for them so that they can be motivated to always be on surveillance,” Ananti said.

Earlier during the visit to the Police Station, the DPO of the attacked police station, CSP Olusegun requested Oba community to secure alternative accommodation for them and assist the force in the burial of the deceased officer which Chief Ananti promised to do the needful with the requisite authorities in Oba.

The President Isu Akanato Quarter Nze Henry Elosiuba (Ozogidigbam) prayed that such incident should not happen again because it was very unfortunate and terrible to witness such a thing in a time like these.
