Anambra Council Poll: Group Targets 12000 Voters for Grassroots Rally

Solution Integrated Team, an affiliate of Association of Anambra State Integrated Indigenes (ASAII) has perfected plans to embark on grassroots rally in the 21 local government areas of the state ahead of September 28 local government elections in the state.

The National President of the Association in Nigeria, Hon. Ferguson Ogbonnaya Okpara disclosed this when he led some top ranking officers of the association to a familiarization tour on the Transition Committee Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area in his office at Abagana.

Okpara, who was a one time, National Youth Leader of APGA in the country said the rally was targeted at mobilizing eligible voters for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the polls.

Briefing the Chairman on the activities and programmes of the association in the state, Okpara explained that the association was targeting about 12000 eligible voters for APGA not only in the forthcoming LGA elections in the state, but also, the 2025 gurbarnitorial elections.

He noted that they have started to harmonizing the eligible voters in the area by producing two different forms that contained the names of the card carrying members of the association in Anambra state as well as their bio-data as well for easy identification of who is who in the association.

“We are now ever read and mean to ensure that our members are all card carrying voters who have voting rights at the polls”, he said

“Our bio-data form will bear the names of our duly recognized members, addresses,states of origin, home towns,places of resident ,name of their landlords and occupations for easy identification and others,”he added.

Receiving them in his office,the Transition Committee Chairman for Njikoka Local Government Area, Barrister,Ononiba, described the programmes and activities of association in Anambra state as a welcome development.

He said that the production of comprehensive lists of non-indigenes resident in Anambra state by the association through her bio-data form would no doubt help in a greater measure in achieving the political and security goals of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in the state and the local government as well.

While asking the leadership of the association to extend their tentacles at ward level in the state,the Chairman told them to swing into action immediately, promising that he would support their activities hundred percent in the area.

He told them to come back after the local government elections in the state and assured that he would also communicate their programmes to the Traditional Rulers and Presidents -General of the communities in the council area for collaboration, especially in the area of maintenance of watertight security in the area, according to him was the collective responsibilities of everybody in the state.

“Governor Soludo has device another strategy to tackling the issue of insecurity in all parts of the state and will unviel same soon after the local government elections in the stste”,he noted.

He charged Ndi-Anambra and the residents to always be security conscious by reporting any unusual things happening around them to appropriate authorities for urgent attention.

The Transition Committee Chairman,who spoke among other things, confirmed that Governor Soludo is adjusting the state’s security apparatus vin order to give enough power to vigilante groups in the state for optimal performance at all times without fear.

For him,the Chairman of the Association in Njikoka Local Government Area,Elder Clement Mgbechi,said that essence of their visit was for them to be acquainted with the development Programmes of the Local Chairman, Barrister Ononiba and to exploit areas where they could be of immense help to the council area, especially now the local government elections are around the corner.

Present on the event were the secretary general of the association in Njikoka Local Government Area ,Miss Okafor Chinonyelum and the Chief Security Officer,Mr Ogbonna Nwamkpu,among others.
