Soludo Shutdown Another Private School over Alleged Pupil Bullying

An illegal school, Upcoming Star International School situated at 114 Ifite Road, behind St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ifite Awka has been closed down by Anambra State Government.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo who announced the closure through Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh directed that the school be sealed before 2pm today, August 27, 2024.

He regretted continued existence of such illegal schools which has been causing mayhem to the children of Anambra State.

“Followed a report of bullying suffered by a 7 year old Olaedo Ozioko, a pupil of the school, the Proprietor, Mr. Uchechukwu Onyeachonam who was invited for questioning at my office, admitted that the offense was committed in his school.

“Henceforth, Proprietors of such illegal schools would be handed over to law enforcement agencies for contravening the laws of the State that declared their operations criminal,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner has called on parents to desist from sending their children and wards to unapproved schools, which exist to endanger the lives of the children of the State.
