Ojukwu Varsity Advocates Integration of Artificial Intelligence into Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria

Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State has called on government and institutions to explore the possibility of the integration of artificial intelligence into healthcare delivery in the society.

The call was made during a one-day conference of Faculty with a theme, “Artificial Intelligence, Application and Implications in Medical Practice.”

The Faculty also recommended that showcasing the role of artificial intelligence in evolving current methodologies and propelling future innovations would significantly influence patient care and public health.

Presenting the recommendations during a courtesy call on the Anambra State Commissioner for Education Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Nkiruka Mary-Kate Orji posited that with Artificial intelligence, there would be seamless creation of central health information management system.

She stressed the need for government to train and sponsor professionals on the use of AI tools like Merative, Enlithic etc, create awareness on high prevalence of H.pylori infection and intestinal parasite, its cause and prevention strategy to reduce the prevalence of gastrointestinal diseases.

Prof. Orji who was accompanied by some executive members of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology stated that the courtesy call was to appreciate Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh for her phenomenal contributions in the development of education.
