Anambra Twin Docked over N123,000 Phone Theft

A twin, Ugonna and Ogonna Nwaobodo, were on Monday, arraigned before an Amawbia Chief Magistrates’ Court, Awka, for allegedly stealing a cell phone worth N123,000

Ugonna and Ogonna from Ifite-Awka were charged with conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. John Ogbonnaya told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 25, at Awka.

Ogbonnaya said that the defendants allegedly conspired and stole a Redmi cell phone belonging to the complainant, Francis Nwanu.

He said that the defendants sold the phone and the phone was eventually recovered when the buyer tracked .

He said that the offences
contravention Sections 353 and 380(b) Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol. II Revise Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991, as amended.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Mike Anyadiegwu, who recognised the defendants expressed disappointment that the twin appeared in court again after he discharged their previous case and they promised to be of good behaviour.

He granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with a surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Aug. 20 for hearing.
