Association of Anambra State Town Union (ASATU) has expressed its readiness to support the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) in its mandate of infrastructural developments and ensuring agency’s adherence to standards.
President General of ASATU Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli gave the assurance during a meeting between ASATU youth leaders and Managing Director of ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko at ACTDA office in Awka.
He highlighted the association’s role as a catalyst for community development and good governance, commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts in transforming Awka into a befitting capital territory.
“The meeting is for a possible partnership targeted at promoting sustainable development, protection of the environment and ensuring compliance with infrastructural development standards to meet community needs,” he said.
Receiving the delegation, Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority Mr. Ossy Onuko in his response, commended ASATU’s initiative.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration for building a livable and prosperous homeland, assuring that the ACTDA Development Control Unit would work closely with ASATU to ensure clearly defined boundaries and mutual satisfaction.
“While there has been informal collaboration with ASATU in the past, formalizing this partnership will enhance grassroots presence and effective development control in various communities,” he added.
Youth leader of Nsugbe community, Engr. Obiudu Chidi, while appreciating Mr. Onuko giant strides, underscored the importance of youth involvement in governance and community development, stressing that the significance of their actions to the future of the community.
