A 23-year-old barber, Mr. Wisdom Onyedika Nwabueze has been declared missing.
The victim, a native of Umudioka, Awka, Anambra State reportedly left their residential house behind St. Peter’s Church, Nkwelle Awka and has never returned.
The ugly development has thrown his family members into tension and anxiety.
Speaking with reporters, mother of the victim, Mrs. Obioma Nwabueze said Wisdom’s whereabouts had remained unknown to them since Friday, May 3, 2024 he left the house at about 4.pm.
She said, “We became worried and started looking for Wisdom when he didn’t return home after the usual time he closes from work daily.
“When we called his phone, he answered and promised he was coming back, only for the phone to be off when we later called it again, after waiting without seeing him.
“Our anxiety increased as the phone remained switched off and never rang again till late hours of Monday, May 8, when it rang and someone answered the call, telling us to come for the phone.
“According to the recipient, the phone was picked up by staff of a public institution in Awka, who saw where it fell on his way back after closure of work and decided to power it (as it was off when he picked it) so its owner would be able to connect when he called.”
Nwabueze, a civil servant further explained that they alerted the police about the development who visited the institution the next day and picked up the phone, while the son’s whereabouts remain unknown, as search continues.
She appealed to the public to help in the search for her son and to also contact family via any of the phone numbers: 08135727188, 08064005684, 08137973614, to avail them with any relevant information that could help in finding him and securing his safe return.
