NANS Begs Sports Minister to Extend Ministry’s Reforms to Tertiary Institutions

National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has called on Minister of Sport Development, Sen John Enoh to extend the reforms of his Ministry to tertiary institutions towards promoting and developing sports activities on campuses.

Comr. Okafor Ernest Obinna who made the call when he led a delegation to a courtesy visit to the Minister, underscored importance of campus-based sports activities and need for support to nurture local sporting talent among Nigerian students.

He solicited the Ministry’s collaboration to enhance sporting facilities in universities across the country.

He said, “We share our admiration for the reforms you are initiating which have positively impacted Nigeria’s sports industry/Students.

“We highlight the importance of campus-based sports activities and the need for support to nurture our local sporting talent among Nigerian students.

“As students leaders and partners in governance, we emphasize our desire for the Ministry’s reforms to extend to tertiary institutions, particularly in promoting and developing sports activities on campuses.

“We seek your collaboration to enhance sporting facilities in universities across the country.

“We are optimistic and excited about your potential to support and endorse our initiatives, fostering a close working relationship between NANS and the Ministry of Sports Development.”

Highlights of the visit was presention of the organization’s proposed events for the 2024/2025 academic calendar, including the National Students Sports Summit, Inter-campus football tournament, assessment tours of sporting facilities, Senator John Enoh Marathon Race, para sports mini-tournament and the establishment of student desk office in the Ministry.
