Passenger Crushed as Speeding Bus Rams into Faulty Truck in Anambra

One person lost his life while another sustained serious injury in a fatal accident along Onitsha-Nteje-Awka expressway, Anambra State.

The crash which occurred at about 8:26am, involved a commercial loaded Truck BENZ 1513 with Registration Number UKP381ZU and a green Private Sienna of LIVETH VATTEN LTD with Registration number KRD429AG

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said the bus was carrying 10 passengers, 7 males, and 3 females when it crashed.

“The Seinna driver was approaching with speed, without knowing that the truck broke down. He tried to swerve but lost control and collided with the truck,” the said.

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi while confirming the crash, said one male adult was killed, while one male adult was injured.

He sympatized with the deceased family of the deceased, warning drivers of articulated vehicles to endeavour to place caution triangle and reflective tape that would indicate signs of cautionary alert to other vehicles.

“Drivers should always reduce heavy loads than the vehicle and they can control and always fix their vehicle to suite the road standard,” he said.
