Two fire incidents were on Friday recorded at different locations in Awka of Anambra State.
According to State Fire Chief, Engr. Martin Agbili, the first fire outbreak occurred at a telecommunication transmission station (mast) said to be operated by MTN at No 69 Dr Billy Okoye Boulevard Street, Agu-Awka, while the second inferno was at a residential home at Rockland Estate (Ngozika Estate extension).
He noted that the first fire caused by a bush burner, destroyed generator in the mast site, while the other was as a result of power surge that emanated from one of the master rooms at the Estate.
Agbili further revealed that the topmost parts of the building was burnt and completely destroyed by the fire, but noted that his men were able to save all the ground floor of the building.
While disclosing that no life was lost in both incidents, the Fire Chief said stressed the place of timely alerting of fire fighters.
“Time of distress call will always determine the response time. If you call in time, we will definitely locate the fire scene in time to do the needful,” he stressed.
