Anambra State House of Assembly member representing Awka South 1 constituency, Hon. Henry Mbachu has distributed seed capitals to local market men and women in the state.

Mbachu made the donation during his recent Constituency outreach in local markets across Awka, the State Capital.

The Labour Party (PDP) lawmaker had in his continued populist representation, toured some markets in his Constituency, with engagements focusing on the masses, especially those living below poverty line.

Describing poverty and inequality as threats to national security, stability and unity, Mbachu however noted that sustainable approach remained key to tackling Nigeria’s increasing rate of poverty.

He also argued that job creation as well as
implemention of economic and institutional reforms would elevate incomes of the citizens.

He said, “The impact of the activities of these petty traders on the local economy is so enormous that one would wonder how such capital base of 10,000 Naira can make a huge difference in people’s lives.

“Creating more job opportunities for the underprivileged, implementing economic and institutional reforms for efficiency will definitely elevate incomes.”

Mbachu further called on youths to assist government in the fight against corruption by being active partners in the growth and development of their local communities.

“Well to do people should be done with ‘Dorime’ and 21 Years Liquor. The cost of one bottle of exotic drink can end excruciating poverty in many families”, he opined.
