Assistant Commandant General (ACG) in charge of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zone K, Awka, Solomon Iyamu has ordered State Commandants of Anambra and Enugu to ensure adequate security of lives and property, before, during and after the Christmas and New year celebrations in their respective states.

The ACG gave the directive in Awka on Tuesday after reviewing the security plan in both states ahead of the Yultide to ensure an effective and efficient delivery of security coverage.

He urged them to identify all the strategic and vulnerable points in their respective commands and ensure massive deployment of personnel to the area.

ACG Iyamu said security plan for the season focuses on intelligence- driven patrols, strategic deployment of personnel to places of worship, malls, public markets, major thorough fares, transportation hubs, Critical National Assets & Infrastructure, and other places of conveyance, aggressive law enforcement operations against suspected criminals , anti- criminality campaigns and public safety services in relation to the celebration of Yultide Season.

The Zonal Commander warned officers and men set to be deployed for this critical assignment to be professional and mindful of fundamental human rights , avoid any act capable of tarnishing the image of the Corps and discharge their duties with all sense of alertness and decorum.

While wishing Christian faithful a happy celebration, the ACG reiterated his strong commitment to exert relentless efforts in providing maximum security to members of the public during the Yultide Season and beyond and advised law abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of attack or molestation.

ACG Iyamu enjoined residents of both states to be vigilant, security- conscious and promptly report and suspicious activities within their domain to the NSCDC or nearest security formation close to them for a hitch – free celebrations.
