Leadership crisis has rocked Soludo Support Group (SSG), a political group, leading to expulsion of its National Coordinator and Convener, Chinedu Nwoye.

Nwoye who doubles as Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo was expelled over alleged highhandedness, usurpation of powers, financial impropriety, misrepresentation and refusal to apologise to the body for misleading statements against the group’s leadership.

The group has also swiftly moved to abolish the position of Convener, replacing it with Founder.

Coordinator of Njikoka/Dunukofia/Aniocha Zone, Prof. Ike Morah, who moved the expulsion motion alongside seven other persons during a meeting, described Nwoye’s dispositions as huge embarrassment to the group.

Idemili Zonal Coordinator, Dr Okolo Ikechukwu, while seconding the motion, said Nwoye tried to usurp the powers of the National Coordinator and the BOT by holding clandestine gatherings in attempt to misinform and mislead the public.

“Nwoye’s expulsion, together with his co-travelers is the only way to rejig and restore sanity to SSG,” he added.

Other members of the group who spoke at the meeting insisted that Nwoye must be expelled and made to refund entire money following his alleged refusal to account for funds paid through him in course of the group’s efforts towards the 2021 governorship election.

Following the adoption of the motion and unanimous position of members, the group’s national leadership through its National Coordinator, Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, said Nwoye stood expelled as well as others affected members.

Other expelled members, according to him were Emmanuel Oramalu, Ochije Mmodilim, VanGorge Ezeogidi, Sam Emeka, Chimdindu Orakwue and John Ikechukwu while 17 others are still under investigation.

Speaking after the meeting, National Youth leader of SSG, Dr. Charles Ebulue, chided Nwoye over his desperate attempt to resort to use of police to stop the meeting from holding, wondering reason behind police deployment in a brothers’ dispute.

He appreciated the Police for their professional disposition, stressing that Nwoye’s desperation would escalate matters.

“Why would Chinedu Nwoye write to the Police to stop us from meeting, he may have forgotten that this is democracy and there is freedom of association and assembly,” he said.

The meeting also witnessed replacement of certain Local Government Coordinators with more vibrant ones for increased effectiveness at the grassroots.

Reacting to his alleged expulsion, Chinedu Nwoye dismissed it as fallacious, malicious and obnoxious tendency orchestrated by gang of disillusioned and frustrated individuals impersonating SSG members.

“It is indeed laughable that certain unscrupulous individuals with no integrity whatsoever will concoct all manner of trash and feed the social media,” he said.
