Three unidentified persons have been burnt alive in different communities of Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Two corpses were reportedly roasted at the Utuh junction, along the Ọnụ Soroọgụ road, while one was roasted at the Amannalụ junction, Ebenator.
Residents of the area were said to have woken up Wednesday morning to sight three corpses in flames burning beyond recognition at the different locations.
While identities of the corpses remained unknown as at the time of filing the report, Anambra Daily gathered that the deceased might have indulged in various crimes that resulted to their arrest and consequent murder.
When contacted, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said he was yet to be informed about the incident.
He however quoted the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye as cautioning people against jungle justice and taking laws into their hands.
He said all suspects should be handed over to police for appropriate investigation and possible prosection.
“The Command condemns this act in totality and has always encouraged the public to take suspects to police stations whenever they are apprehended.
“This will help the Police to conduct proper investigations and bring the suspects to justice under extant laws,” he said.
