Anambra State Governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo has called on women to always be careful with what they consume.

She urged them to see healthy living as an important factor to life, without which the body becomes deteriorated.

Soludo stated this in Awka while addressing business women and female farmers under the umbrella of the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria.

She renewed her call for regulated intake of salt in view of the current high mortality cases and sicknesses resulting from over-consumption of sodium-based foods.

Soludo cited recent statistics by the World Health Organization, WHO, that over 2million deaths occur annually due to salt related sicknesses.

She noted that while salt is an important ingredient for food, consuming it more than the recommended unit leads to serious health problems.

While underscoring the importance of organic agriculture and its impact on human and environmental health, Soludo’s wife urged the female farmers to see the practice as not only safe but healthy.

She further talked about her healthy living project, urging the women to take the lead in the campaign by not only living it out, but most importantly, impacting the ideas on their immediate society.

Earlier, National President of the association, Mrs. Nkiru Nwagbo applauded the Governor’s wife for leading a campaign of change in trying to make healthy living a household norm in the State.

The event which was preceded by road walks, physical exercise, medical check and health talks attracted special dignitaries including Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Stella Okunna and Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mrs. Chinyere Onyekesi.
