Man, 21, Arraigned for Stealing Cell Phone in Ebonyi

The police in Ebonyi, on Tuesday, arraigned a 21-year-old-man, Nwude George, before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abakaliki for allegedly stealing a cell phone, valued at N50,000. George is facing a two-count charge of breach of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Bassey Okon, told the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 1 at Ezzamgbo Ndufu Aleke, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi. Okon said that the defendant stole an Infinix Hot 8 Lite phone, belonging to one Oguama Amara.

He said that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Section 516 A (a) of the Criminal Code, Cap.33, Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.
The Defence Counsel, Mr N.S. Nwankwor, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The court did not, however, take the plea of the defendant.
The Magistrate, Mr Ojemba Isu-Oko, adjourned the matter till Nov. 13 for further hearing. (NAN)
