Academic records released by the Chicago State University (CSU) shows that Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, was a female student of the institution.
A 32-page document of Tinubu’s academic records was released on Monday night to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar., following a United States Court order which mandated the university to make them public.
Recall that both Atiku and Tinubu contested the February 25, 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), however, confirmed Tinubu as the winner of the fiercely disputed poll.
Not satisfied with the outcome of the poll, Atiku approached the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal but lost the legal battle to Tinubu.
Atiku, who has since proceeded to the Supreme Court in Nigeria to challenge Tinubu’s victory, had earlier obtained victory at the US court in his fierce legal battle to probe into the academic qualification of Tinubu.
Tinubu had supplied certificates from the Chicago State University to INEC to secure eligibility to participate in the just concluded election.
However, aside from academic records, there have been a series of controversies regarding the Nigerian leader’s gender.
Following a US court order on Saturday, CSU on Monday, released Tinubu’s academic records as requested by Atiku and the documents now in public domain showed that the student ‘Bola A. Tinubu’ is a female. However, in what looks like a contradiction, CSU noted in parts of the document that the same student ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ is male. The varsity also, in certificates added to the 32-page document, addressed the student as ‘He’ as in Male.
