Traders in Oniitsha, Anambra State, and its environs, on Monday engaged prayer warriors for the release of detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The prayer warriors were seen in some of the markets offering fervent prayers to God for immediate and unconditional release of Kanu
Speaking during inspection tour to ascertain markets that were shut over sit-at-home for immediate seal, President of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA?, Chief Humphrey Anuna expressed satisfaction over turnout of traders to the prayer and sanitation exercise.
He was optimistic that business would soon be restored in view of the prayers being offered by the prayer warriors.
He said,”Today’s Monday prayer and sanitation exercise recorded massive turn up with the help of prayer warriors who prayed fervently for God’s intervention for the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu.
“Our market will experience more turn up next Monday, but today, prayer went well because traders turned to prayer warriors for Kanu’s release so that business will be restored as soon as he is released.
“We are losing a lot for not trading on Monday, many businesses are going down; many are not getting enough money for trading.
“We are begging government to help us restore Monday markets by releasing Kanu so that things will normalise.”
At Onitsha main market, Chairman, Chief Innocent Ezeoha, said the business on Mondays was gradually improving
” I’m using trade to drag customers instead of using rope. I advise them on need to start coming to market on Mondays as all goods sold on the streets are now inside the market,” he said.
