A Sharia Court in Kano State on Tuesday ordered that a 29-year-old unemployed man, Auwalu Nasiru, be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly stealing a sheep worth N27,000.
Nasiru, who lives in Sani Manage Quarters, Kano is charged with theft.
The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, adjourned the case until Sept.28 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Abdullahi Wada told the court that the case was reported on Sept. 11 at Mandawari police station by Sabo Iliyasu, the complainant.
Wada said the defendant trespassed into the complianant’s shed at Sani Mainage Quarters and stole one sheep.
He noted that the defendant took the sheep to an uncompleted building and slaughtered it.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.(NAN)
