Bricklayer, 26 arraigned for allegedly stealing 130 blocks

A 26-year-old bricklayer, Ojo Odunkunle, was on Monday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 130 pieces of blocks worth N517,500 from a construction site.

The defendant, who resides at 8, Aderele Adetebi St., Ayobo, Lagos State, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the defendant committed the theft on Aug. 28 on Somoye Street, Ayobo, Lagos State.

Odugbo said that the defendant went to a construction site of one Mr Abdulkabir Lawal and stole 130 pieces of blocks.

He said that the defendant was apprehended by security guards on his way out of the construction site.

According to the prosecutor, stealing contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. F. Onamusi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Onamusi adjourned the case until Sept. 29 for mention. (NAN)
