Navy Operatives Arrest Couple, Two Others Over US Convoy Attack in Anambra Community

Four persons, including a couple have been arrested over alleged involvement in recent attack by gunmen on a convoy of United States’ embassy officials in Ogbaru, Anambra State.

The suspects were reportedly arrested during a raid of several criminal camps in the area by security operatives on a Joint-Task-Force operation led by the Commander of Naval base, Onitsha.

A source privy to the JTF operation disclosed that Navy Commander was accompanied in the operation by Commissioner of Police in the State, Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and Commander of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

The source said, “Several camps of the Unknown Gunmen were today raided by the Security operatives in Anambra state during a joint task force operation conducted in ogbaru lga of the state.

“During the joint operation which was led by the Commander of naval base Onitsha in company of the CP, Commandant of NSCDC and Commander NDLEA Anambra state, 4 notorious leaders/commanders of the IPOB/ESN in Ogbaru LGA were arrested.

“Those arrested are identified as Mrs Franca Barnabas AkA Ezenwanyi, her husband Mr Peter Barnabas, Mr Odinaka Ezirim AkA Ose Oji and Mr Enebeli Azubuike AkA Uzi.

“It was also revealed that 3 of the arrested persons were reportedly part of the attack on us convoy in ogbaru 3 weeks ago.

“The communities expressed satisfaction at the efforts of the security operatives whose efforts have immensely contributed to the security of their lives and property.”

Recall that no fewer than seven lives were lost in the gruesome attack by gunmen on a convoy of the United States’ embassy officials in the area early in the month.
