Awka Rotary club donates over N200,000 instructional materials to schools

Rotary International, District 9142 of Awka Central, has donated instructional Materials to two schools for its Basic Education and Literacy projects.

The Rotary Club of Awka Central team presented the educational materials, worth over N200,000 to the schools in Awka on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the educational materials donated to the schools include five  whiteboards, dusters, biros, exercise books, amongst others.

Dr Maudlin Ohuoha, the Synergizers President and her members presented the Educational materials to Greater Grace of The Pentecost Academy (GGPA) and Gladnuel International school.

Ohuoha said that Rotary International is an organisation with over 1.4 million members across the global with the aim to serve humanity without gain.

She said that Rotary International has various areas of service, namely, Basic Education and Literacy, Maternal and Child Health, Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution.

Also, it deals with Disease prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Community and Economic Development and Support to the Environment.

“What we are doing now is basic education and literacy project because we value education and desire to encourage our children to gain quality education,” she said.

Chief Tim Nwabunwanne, a member of the club, said that Rotary is a selfless organisation.

He said that members are professionals who are encouraged to serve humanity with their time, talent and treasure.

Nwabunwanne encouraged the teachers in the schools to impart quality learning skills into the children for safer society.

Speaking, the Head Mistress of the Greater Grace of The Pentecost Academy, Mrs Nkiru Okoye, appreciated Rotary International for the thought of building up education and other sector of humanities.

Okoye assured that the materials donated would be put to quality use to ensure that children gain quality education through the materials donated.

Mrs Gladys Aguocha, the Head Mistress of Gladnuel International school, said that education is the best legacy anyone can bequeath to a child.

Aguocha assured the team of their commitment and goal to impart rich educational and social morals on the children as the future leaders of the society.

NAN reports that GGPA is a nursery and primary school owned by the Church of The Pentecost, Anglican Communion, Awka Diocese.

The Vicar in charge of the school, Venerable Ekene Nwafor, commended Rotary International for its laudable projects aimed to serve humanity. (NAN)
