Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi, on Saturday, sought divine intervention in the ongoing presidential election petition tribunal and prayed for God’s favour for Obi in the outcome from the tribunal.
Over 500 Obi supporters participated in the one-day prayer summit organised by the All Labour Party Support Groups (ALPSG), in conjunction with the Labour Party (LP), Anambra state chapter, at the Marble Arch Hotels, Awka. Bishop (Dr.) Ozioma Ozoemene, the presiding bishop of Holy Ghost New Life International Inc., Nnewi, during his ministration on the theme: “The spirit controls the physical,” declared that what took place in the aftermath of the presidential election on February 25, 2023 was sheer broad daylight, systemic robbery. According to him, the prayer summit became important to provoke God into action to ensure that the presidential mandate that Nigerian voters freely gave to Peter Obi is reclaimed at the tribunal. He declared: “The God we know and serve is a prayer-answering God. Praise moves God and prayers move mountains. So, there is a mountain before this country, Nigeria; and the mountain has entered into the judiciary, especially the 2023 presidential election petition tribunal.
The tribunal is the mountain which our prayer shall move. Our prayer will move the people connected to the presidential tribunal to do the right thing so that, in the end, justice will prevail and Peter Obi reclaims his stolen mandate,” Bishop Ozoemene prayed. Earlier in his brief prayer, Rev. Emmanuel Asiegbu of the City of Truth Revival Gospel Center, Awka, declared that, through the prayer of God’s faithful, the wicked leaders would no longer keep Nigerians under their political dominion. “I want to tell you that there are many righteous men and women in Nigeria. Therefore, the wicked (leaders) will no longer rule us. Our prayer today is that God will overthrow the wicked rulership and enthrone godly leadership which Peter Obi represents and champions in Nigeria,” Asiegbu prayed.
Speaking to newsmen after the programme, the chairman of the Labour Party, Anambra state chapter, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh, stated that the prayer was organised with the support of the party leadership in the state because of their trust in God’s intervention. According to him, Obi Supporters decided to seek the face of God in the ongoing presidential election petition tribunal in the belief that ‘the spiritual controls the physical’ and that, with God’s unseen hand, “Peter Obi would eventually reclaim his stolen mandate through the judiciary.”
The Lead Coordinator, the All the Labour Party Support Groups (ALPSG), Anambra State chapter, Mr Charles Anueyiagu, also told Anambra Daily that the prayer summit was organised by the umbrella body of OBIdient Movement in the state as its contribution towards the actualisation of the Peter Obi presidency which they all laboured for. In his words, “We decided that we are not going to fold our arms and watch the drama now unfolding at the presidential election tribunal but to commit the mandate before God as it is beyond us now. We strongly believe that, with this prayer summit and countless others being offered by Nigerians on a daily basis, God will, once again, demonstrate to Nigerians that nothing is impossible for Him,” Anueyiagu said.
