A gale of defection is looming from three major political parties of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress APC ahead of its Presidential rally in Anambra State.

This is coming on the heels of announcement of Sen Maggery Okadigbo as Coordinator, Ahmed Tinubu and Alhaji Kasim Shettima Campaign Council in the state.

Anambra Daily gathered that talks were ongoing between three major parties and APC on the process of dumping their various parties ahead of this month’s mega rally.

Okadigbo, who doubles as Chairman Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had recently distributed items to the 327 wards in the state, targeted at cementing party members and stakeholders during the festive seasons.

Former Commissioner for Information Chief Joseph Ofokansi told reporters on Wednesday that party’s fortunes had improved following Okadigbo’s emergence.

“Snce the emergence of Okadigbo as the state Coordinator for Ahmed Bola Tinubu the party’s fortunes have improved and members of other parties have been meeting with the APC leaders in the state for possible defection at the proposed mega rally.

“Yes we now have a strong party structure in the state as a result of the position and activities of our State Coordinator who in conjunction with her Deputy Coordinator have been reaching out to party faithful.

“She had made donations of food items and other necessary logistics to the 21 Local Government Areas and the 327 electoral wards in the state during the first and second phases of the empowerment,” he said.

Leader of the party in Anambra Central District, Mr Sam Oraegbunam described the recent homogeneous relationship existing in the party as unprecedented, expressing optimism of a successful rally in view of achievements of Okadigbo and her Deputy, Sen Emma Anosike.

“We have been entertaining overtures from members of the PDP, LP and APGA for them to join the party and this is as a result of what Sen Okadigbo has done so far for the party in Anambra after becoming State Coordinator of Tinubu/ Shettima Campaign Council.

“We urge other states in the Southeast to borrow a leaf from what Anambra has done because none of them can boast of the kind of formidable structure that we have here” he said.
