The State chapter of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), has declared that over four million supporters would attend the campaign rally of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Awka, Anambra state.
The party announced that the rally slated for Thursday, December 16 at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka would be the mother of all campaign rally ever held in Anambra State since this democratic dispensation.
A chieftain of the people’s Democratic party and the committee chairman on traditional institution for Atiku/Okowa campaign organization Chief Jude Osude who spoke to our correspondent shortly after a press briefing by the committee, expressed optimism that the party would deliver the State to PDP in the 2023 general election contrary to speculations in some quarters.
He dismissed with a wave of hands the contrary view and speculations that other party will win Anambra State in the Upcoming election because of the Igbo political interest in one of the leading candidate.
Osude warned that it will be dangerous for Ndigbo to put their eggs in one basket in the present political dispensation, advising South East Stake holders in politics to look inward and read the dimension and direction of political power play in Nigeria with a view to make amendment before it is too late.
“As members of the major opposition political party in this country,we have major stake in every state of this federation including Abuja the federal capital, and let me tell you Atiku Abubarka is well positioned to win the election with landslide. So anybody who is hoping that PDP will fail in Anambra State and in the South East States is making a great mistake because PDP at worst will make the expected 25 percent in all the South East States.”
On the preparation for today’s rally the PDP stallwart said it is expected that each of the 21 LGA of the State will mobilize not less than two hundred person’s.”So we are prepared and ready to host the incoming president Alhaji Atiku Abubarka and his vice president Governor Okowa at the Alex Ekwueme square venue of the rally . It is expected also that all PDP timbers and calibar in Anambra State and beyond will be in the State during the rally.
