The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, CC Isidore C Chikere has charged officers and men of the command undergoing arms and combat training at its training School, Achi Oji River in Enugu State to pay rapt attention to better picture of what to expect in weapon handling, shooting skills, less lethal options and tactics.
Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the School, Chikere reiterated his commitment to strengthen and improve the skills and professionalism of the trainees to effectively function in the law enforcement environment.
He added that the training was part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security system.
He said, “The purpose of this visit is to have a first hand information and assessment of the training camp and to see how the trainees are fairing.
“The training, expected to last for about one month, is targeted at injecting new ideas on weapons handling, musketry, Baton and Rifle Exercise (BARE), combat operations, individual manoeuvre, and range practice.
“You must pay rapt attention to a better picture of what to expect in weapon handling, shooting skills, less lethal options and tactics that will allow you to demonstrate critical decision-making in a pressured time frame.
“You are expected to exhibit self discipline, and understanding of the rules of engagement governing weapon handling. The Command, on its part, will provide available resources for you as part of the commitment of the Commandant General.”
