Unknown Gunmen Kill Vigilante Commander, Two Others in Anambra

Unknown gunmen have killed a commander of the Anambra Vigilante Group and two of his orderlies at Igboukwu community, Aguata Council Area of the State.

The vigilante commander popularly called Shaba, was reportedly with his orderlies at a bar in Nkwo Market at Igboukwu on Tuesday night, October 11, 2022, when the assailants opened fire on them.

The attackers were said to have driven to the bar, alighted from their vehicle and opened fire on the two orderlies at the entrance of the bar before going inside to shoot the commander dead.

There were claims that the killing was carried out by members of a kidnapping ring whose leader was busted by Shaba’s team some days ago.

Anambra State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident said an operation was on to apprehend the attackers.

“There is a deliberate operation ongoing now aimed at apprehending the attackers”, he said.

“Meanwhile, patrols have been intensified within Aguata and its environs. Further development shall be communicated please,” the PPRO added.
