The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has warned party faithful to stop campaigning for candidates of other political parties or face disciplinary actions according to Section 22 of the party’s constitution.
The warning was contained in a memo signed by the Anambra State party chairman, Sir Nobert Obi, addressed to all the state working committee members and all the local government area chairmen of the party.
The memo sighted by our correspondent has reference number APGA/AN/08/60 was dated 18th August 2022.
Obi described such action as inimical to the overall interest of APGA which has the intention to win the 2023 general elections especially in Anambra State where the party has fielded candidates for all the National and State Assembly elections.
The statement reads, “My attention has been drawn severally to some unwholesome activities of certain members of our party (APGA) who are campaigning for candidates of other political parties.
“You may wish to know that it is wrong for any member to campaign, solicit votes, or attend any activity organized by other political parties or their candidates other than our great party APGA. Such development is considered anti-party activity and an act of indiscipline in breach of Article 21, General Code of Conduct of our great party.
“There are several cases of members belonging to Watzap, Facebook and other social media platforms that promote and campaign for candidates of other political parties. Not a few even go as far as sharing posts that promote candidates who are not APGA members.”
