The South East for Tinubu (SET), a political pressure group has urged stakeholders of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to back the move by the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pick a Muslim Northerner as his vice Presidential candidate.

Convener of the group and South East/South-South Zonal Coordinator of Tinubu Support Coalition TSC; Engr. Emmanuel Nwosu who spoke on behalf of the group argued that the party should focus on the ticket capable of guaranteeing victory in the 2023 election rather than succumb to blackmail and religious chicanery being peddled by enemies of the party.

Nwosu suggested that the running mate should come from the Northeast zone to ensure the zone was given a sense of belonging.

On whether the Southeast zone was ready to support the party flag bearer, Emmanuel assured that Tinubu would secure more than 40 percent of the Southeast votes in the poll.

He said, “All the leaders of Tinubu Support Groups in the Southeast have done a great job at mobilising the grassroots for Tinubu.

“We have no iota of doubt that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure more than 40% of the South East votes in February 2023 election.”

He also seized the opportunity to invite all progressives and lovers of Asiwaju Tinubu to the planned Southeast Storm for Tinubu, a five million man peace walk slated for August 2022 at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
