75-Year-Old Man Arrested for Impregnating 13-Year-Old Foster Daughter in Anambra

A 75-year old man, Sunday Muoghalu has confessed being responsible for the pregnancy of the 13-year old foster daughter.

The suspect, a resident of Agu oye, Umudioka in Awka, Anambra State capital admitted responsibility for putting the victim in family way.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the septuagenarian said he was only playing with the girl and never intended to impregnate her.

The confession is coming after the suspect was arrested on Sunday night by the Police through the assistance of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon Ify Obinabo.

A video of a 13-year old girl who was impregnated by her guardian and abandoned in hospital due to unpaid bills had gone viral on the internet which prompted swift response from the Commissioner.

The response led to the rescue of the victim, currently in safe custody, as well as arrest of the suspect who would soon be charged for prosecution.

The Commissioner, through her spokesperson, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu had warned that government would not tolerate such indecent action, stressing that culprits would not go scot-free.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim confessed she was impregnated by the suspect who she said was her guardian.

The victim, a native of Akwa Ibom, with biological parents who stayed in Agulu, Anambra State said she was not the only one involved in the suspect’s serial defilement of minors.

“Mr Sunday’s wife is known as Madam Ghana. This started when Madam Ghana travelled to the village. I’m not the only one involved. There is another girl who is seven years old, Mr Sunday used to sleep with her too.

“I once told Madam Ghana about it, and she cautioned her husband, but when it continued, I could not do much any longer,” she said.
