Member representing Nnewi South Constituency 1 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Chuddy Nonso Atuchukwu has empowered over 300 fashion designers in his constituency with sewing and weaving machines, generators, pressing Irons, mannequins and cash gifts.
The intervention tagged “Obataifedi constituency briefing and fashion designers empowerment” was aimed at enhancing productivity, creating jobs and increasing income of several families.
He said, “The gesture was among a series of empowerment programmes and interventions lined up to demonstrate my commitment towards welfare and well being of my constituents.
“It’s also targeted at supporting previous graduands of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s One youth two skills Initiative.”
On the rigorous process of profiling and selection of beneficiaries, the APGA lawmaker said, “every of the beneficiaries selected from the 21 wards in Nnewi were all qualified to be partakers of the fashion designers empowerment programmes based on their trainings and professional backgrounds.
“The beneficiaries cuts across APGA, APC, PDP YPP and other political Party members residing within the constituency because of my commitment to match the yearnings and aspirations of good governance as demanded by the people in tandem with the tenets of democracy.”
Atuchukwu who had earlier organised series of empowerment programmes targeted at various segments in his constituency, including women, youths and small businesses, called on his constituents to continue to support Soludo-led administration.
He also called on opposition parties to throw in the towel ahead of the November 8 governorship election as there was no vacancy at the Government House.
Some of the beneficiaries, James Okwuchukwu, Chidinma Mmesoma and Celina Onyemaechi said the empowerment programe was a realization of their life time dreams and aspirations.
The visibly excited beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the benefactor for remembering them in their moments of need, promising to put the empowerment kits to good use.
The occasion which took place at the Umudim Ultra modern hall in Amichi was well attended by traditional leaders, political leaders and youth groups in the constituency.
