Anambra State of Assembly on Friday, April 11, 2025 confirmed the nomination of Nneoma Mmogbo as the Accountant General for the Local Government Areas in the state.
A letter from the Executive Governor was read by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Somto Udeze before it was referred to the Committee on Public Petition for screening to report back to the House.

In Consideration of the report, the House resolved to the Committee on the whole where some members took their turns to ask the nominee questions which she answered convincingly.
The House reverted back to plenary where the Speaker, Mr Udeze reported progress before putting the confirmation to a voice vote.

The law makers affirmed the nomination while expressing the hope that the new Accountant General of the Local government would live up to expectations.
The Speaker while congratulating the Accountant General for Local Government, urged her to always be guided by the law and avoid wrong interpretations of laws passed by the House of Assembly.
“There are a lot of job before you, there is the need to have a strong financial base in all the local government areas of the state”.
“There is also the need for training and re training of the staff on the area of finance management to bring them up to speed with the visions of the governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo”.
The Accountant General of the Local government, Nneoma Mmogbo pledged to ensure transparency, equity and upgrade of the financial status of the local government system during the period of her tenure.
