Anambra 2025: Obidient Network ’ll Endorse the Best Candidate from any Political Party – Azomchine

Former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in 2023, Mr Peter has commissioned his followers under the Obidient Network platform to choose the best candidate for the Anambra governorship election, who they will support in the November election in the state.

A leader of the group and member of the Obidient Network Advisory Council, Mr Ikenna Azomchine disclosed this on Wednesday in Awka.

Speaking at a press conference, Azomchine said Obi has given his word for his supporters to access all the governorship aspirants of the various political parties in the state and choose one who has similar ideology that aligns with the welfare and development of the state.

Azomchine said with the new mandate, the group will soon hold a session with selected aspirants from various political parties, to determine which of them should get their support in November.

He said: “We are here to clear certain misconceptions, and also tell you the new mandate that our leader, Mr Peter Obi has given us. First is that Obidient Network is not under any political party, we have members in all the political parties in the country. And as such we condemn those who went to the Labour Party office in Abuja recently, using our name to say they are supporting one aspirant.

“We as Obidient Network are busy putting our organogram in place and we will unveil it soon. Our leader, Mr Peter Obi, has given us his words, and we can assess any aspirant for the Anambra State governorship election and come up with who we should support.

“We don’t have any reservations. We can go for any aspirant, as far as the ideals of Peter Obi will be entertained. I have sought the permission of our leader, Mr Peter Obi to speak with the incumbent governor (Prof Chukwuma Soludo), and he said we can go ahead and speak to anybody.

“Soon, we will be meeting with the aspirants and interview them. We have questions for all of them, and we will be looking out for the best, who embodies the ideals I mentioned earlier, and the Obidient Network will support them.

“There are Obidients in every party, but I want to say that Obidient Network is the one that Peter Obi himself directs. We will not look at political parties when endorsing a candidate, and we have been looking around to know who is the best, and once we get that, we will reach back to our principal and tell him who it is.”

Azomchine who prides himself as Obidient General warned politicians to be wary of the people they are dealing with, as many people have been going around, claiming to be of Obidient Movement, and collecting money from people.

“The leadership of Obidient Network in Anambra has a dream where we will be the ombudsman for choosing competence and credibility in the next governorship election in Anambra State.

“Peter Obi has long positioned himself as the leader of Igbo people in Nigeria, and we want a situation where we will carry him high, and the Obidient Network will play key roles in choosing the best leaders for Igbo land.”

He warned all aspirants of political parties using the name of Mr Peter Obi to draw support to themselves to desist as the group is still working towards getting the best aspirant for the governorship contest.
