Sports: Anambra School Hosts Inter-House Competition at Rojenny Stadium

The maiden inter house sports competition of Maijec Leadership Academy, held at Rojenny stadium, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was keenly contested for with Green House lifting the giant trophy.

Red House was the runner up and the Yellow House took the third position in the inter house competition that attracted people from far and wide.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer, CEO/Proprietor of the school, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejibendu said the essence of the competition was to entertain the students and keep healthy by physical exercise.

“The inter house was so perfect, I congratulate every house and the Green house that won the giant trophy. Others should work hard to achieve what the Green house achieved,” he advised.

On why the school became a household name despite being just two years old, Mr. Ejibendu disclosed that, “Some people call us magic because of the name of the school, ‘Maijec’, but the whole thing comes from God.

“Even when we opened the school parents started bringing their children without much stress or advertorial by us,” he further disclosed.

On the area he wants the state government to assist the school he stated that the Academic road that leads to the school has become a torn in the flesh of students, staff and other road users and urged government to come to the rescue by rehabilitating the road.

Earlier, President General, PG, Oba Akanano Union, (emeritus), Chief Dozie Nweke, expressed satisfaction with the inter house sports competition and commended the management for what he described as ‘standard inter house sports competition’.

“I witnessed the match pass by the different houses prior to the commencement of the inter house competition. The children did their parents proud. I give kudos to the management and staff, they are too much.

“The inter house is so wonderful, well organized. They have quality teachers and all aspects of sports they did they were perfect in them. Their dressing so beautiful. That is why I insist my kids must school here,” he revealed.

Also speaking, a parent whose children are students of the school, Chief Uchenna Onah, disclosed that inter house sports helps to keep fit and commended the management of the school for the able way it has been piloting the affairs of the school.

“The inter house sports is well organized, it means they know what they are doing. Sports makes us to be healthy and younger. Governor Chukwuma Soludo should invest more on education.

“I commend the governor for the free education he gave to children of the state and any child that doesn’t go to school his parents should be held responsible,” he warned.

Onah who is a grand patron of the Yellow house of the school and CEO of Skycold hotel and Suits Oba, paid glowing tribute to the CEO of the school, Mr. Ejibendu, for the able way he manages the school and urged him to sustain the tempo.

Another parent, Chief Anthony Onyeka, disclosed that sequel to the good academic performance and standard of the school, he withdrew his children from their former school to Maijec, stating that the management is experienced in school management

“Look at the inter house sports, it looks like the inter house sports of an old school, but this is just a school that is two years old. By the time it will be five years it will be talk of the state.

“With this inter house sports you pick talents in so many fields and train them hard to represent the school, local government, state and the country. so I commend the organizers of the inter house sports,” he added further.

The director/dean of students, Dr. Mrs. Chinenye Jerry-Amah, said that the school has come a long way as its standard could be compared with global standard going by both the school academic performance and sporting activities.

On the security of the students now that insecurity is the talk in town she assured that with the present security gadgets that include CCTV cameras, that she can beat her chest to say they have watertight security in the school.

However, in the soccer competition Blue House carried the day with a lone goal.
