The All Progressive Congress, APC in Anambra state has reiterated its preparedness to unseat Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8 Governorship election having failed to protect lives and property of the people.

State chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike made the vow at Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, while receiving a former All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, chieftain, Chief Ejike Madunagu, who decamped to APC.

Ejidike, represented by his State Assistant secretary, High Chief Sam Oraegbunam, recalled that, “Soludo never won the governorship election, he was installed there by his predecessor, former governor Willie Obiano.

“So in the face of the insecurity situation that is threatening the people in the state, second tenure depends on your performance in the first tenure. Look at the level of killings, Soludo never cares.

“The miscreants that killed the Anambra lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1, late Justice Azuka, two of those involved in his killing we learnt escaped. This is ugly story we will be hearing. We can’t continue to be complaining.

“Let’s vote APC come November 8th for all these insecurity and financial imposition on us stop. Most of the Southeast states are APC because APGA is a local party not recognized at the national level.

“Anambra is the center of Southeast and we have to get dividends of democracy from the APC led government down to the Southeast zone,” he stated.

On the decampee, Ejike, he described him as a big fish whose presence in APC will not only garner more votes for the party in Oba ward , where the decampee hails from, but the local government, state and by extension national as he has his business, Julimon Estate management, in Abuja, Awka and Oba.

In his own contribution, the APC zonal chairman (central), High Chief Augustine Muomaife, stated that, “We want to be at the center, Anambra is backward because of APGA. Politics is a vehicle and the motive is to carry you to your destination.

“We have to join APC, it is Federal might, you can’t challenge Federal Government, in 2027 five governors will decamp to APC. We are serious to win this governorship election to have our own share of the national cake. Talk from now to tomorrow without belonging to APC nobody will listen to you,” he disclosed.

On the new entrant to APC, Ejike, he described him as one man riot squad whose presence will attract scores into APC stating that he left APGA because his business estate , business in Abuja needs Federal Government assistance which is APC led Federal government coupled with the insecurity situation in the state.

In his response, the decampee, Ejike, commended the APC state chairman, his executives and party members for finding him worthy to be admitted as an APC member and pledged not to disappoint them.

According to him, “I decamped from APGA to APC because of the insecurity situation in the state. Lives and property are no longer safe and my business, Julimore Estate business is in Abuja, Awka and Oba but because APGA leadership could not assist my business, I resolved to join the national party, APC led Federal Government.

“With my entrance into APC, definitely I will provide dividends of democracy from the national level to the state. APGA doesn’t have the Federal might to do this and I have no regret leaving APGA to join a national party,” he hinted.

Earlier, the APC Oba ward 1, chairman, Okwudili Maduemesia, expressed satisfaction with the defection of Ejike from APGA to APC describing him as a big fish who will attract more people to the party in Oba.

“With Ejike’s presence we are sure of victory in Oba. He is a man of the people and we are happy he has joined us. He is a philanthropist and loves progress wherever he is,” chairman disclosed further.

He lamented the present insecurity situation in the state revealing that, ” during the rainfall last night three people were kidnapped here in Oba and we are talking about second tenure for Soludo,” he lamented.

Contributing, former youth leader, Chief Victor Uzochukwu lamented that the insecurity situation has resulted in all staying indoors warning that nobody should talk of Soludo’s second tenure unless he likes the daily killings in the state.

“Why are we talking of second tenure for Soludo when insecurity is the situation in the state. When my mother can not walk freely on the streets. The new law on security is like one enacting a law in his house,” he disclosed further.

Reacting to the defection of Ejike from APGA to APC he said it was a welcomed development and described it as a national call adding that Anambra is begging for APC leadership.

“We know that very soon everything will come to flourish, insecurity will be a thing of the past. For APC to have brought Ejike into it, all will be APC,” he assured.

A woman leader in ward 1, Chukwuka Rose Ogochukwu, said, “We need people in APC, it is the party to beat and I am sure we will get to Agu Awka, Govt House) by November 8th this year.

“With the presence of Ejike in our ward 1, we are sure of victory for APC and his going to Abuja is for our own good. We thank all for bringing him into APC, he is a big fish,” she disclosed.

In their various remarks, Hon Aniam Okechukwu, APC legal Adviser for Idemili South, and Chief Sunday Obidigbo-APC chairman Idemili South, expressed satisfaction with the defection of Ejike to APC assuring that he will provide dividends of democracy from Abuja to the state as a big fish in political issues.
