Combined team of Enugwu-Ukwu Central Vigilante Group, and the Vigilante Operatives in all the villages of the community have arrested two suspected ritualists during a Forest combing exercise.

The President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Chief Patrick Nworji led the security operatives to the exercise into the massive Agu Akiyi forest behind Okutalukwe Secondary School Akiyi Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Secretary Enugwu-Ukwu Security Council/Dir. of Admin. Enugwu-Ukwu AVG, Sir Nnamdi Onuzulike in a statement said the Agu Akiyi forest had become a concern to the community due to suspected criminal activities.

According to Onuzulike, the joint Vigilante Security Operatives led by the Director of Operations, Enugwu-Ukwu AVG, a retired Group Capt. in the Nigerian Military, during the operation arrested two suspected Fake Ritualists inside the forest and taken to the palace of the traditional ruler of the community.

“Two young men, one from Ezira in Orumba South LGA, and another from Aninri in Enugu State, suspected to be engaging in fake ritual practices, and illicit drugs respectively were apprehended in the forest during the combing exercise.

“They were take to the Igwe’s Palace for report, and to the appropriate quarters for prosecution as directed by the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, HRM Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpeh (Eze Enugwu-Ukwu na Igwe Umunri).

The monarch who thanked the PG and members of the joint vigilante operatives for their gallantry in carrying out the security operations in the forest successfully, also promised his continued support with his Cabinet Council to ensure that the Community remains peaceful and crime-free.

In his remarks, the PG ECDU Central and general Coordinator Enugwu-Ukwu Security, Chief Patrick Nworji, said the exercise is In line with the newly passed Anambra State Homeland Security Law, and need to ensure a crime-free Community.
