Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has denied reports making the rounds in the social media that he has authorized arrest of women not wearing bras and pants in the state.
Governor Soludo, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara said the trending announcement by town crier in Abagana, Njikoka LGA, was not authorized by the State government or Agunechemba Security Outfit.
He emphasized that such trivial matters have no legal support and cannot be the focus of the State government or its law enforcement agencies, especially when the state was focused on ridding itself of criminality.
While encouraging decent dressing in communities, Opara clarified that the government’s primary focus is on maintaining law and order, not policing underwear choices.
“Government urges citizens to disregard the announcement and continue supporting security agencies with credible information on criminals in their communities.
“If you see something, say something!” Opara stressed.
