EYAF Begins Documentation of Anam History of Origins

Elite Youths of Anam Foundation, EYAF has commenced a new project on documentation of historical facts about Anam Origins.

According a statement jointly signed by EYAF President, Dr. Chris Ejike Anekwe and Public Relations Officer, Chief Olisemeka Obeche, the research project was aimed at documenting the rich history and cultural heritage of Anam.

“It is expected to serve as a comprehensive archive that preserves the stories, traditions, and historical milestones of our community for future generations.

“The rationale behind this project stems from the growing concern that many aspects of Anam history, customs and traditions are at risk of being forgotten”.

“As Anam community evolves, EYAF believes that it is crucial to capture the narratives of our ancestors, the pivotal events that have shaped our identity, and the unique traditions that define us.”

The statement further disclosed that the project team would be headed by Prof. Alex Asigbo, with Prof. Jaja Nwanegbo as Deputy Lead Researcher while Barr. Victor Akazue Nwakasi serves as Project Coordinator with Mr. John Mmadubuonu appointed Secretary/Assistant Coordinator.

Other members of the team include Prof. Patrick Ajie, Venerable Dr Charles Nnaemeka, Dr Ejike Nwene, Mr Chuma Ozoemene and Eng. Chukwuemeka Nnaemeka as well as
Chief Dan Nnakwuzie and Comrade Friday Iloegbune Okeke.

“The National Chairman of Anam People’s Assembly, Chief Alex Okonkwo will also work with the project team alongside, EYAF President and Secretary, Dr. Ejike Anekwe and JohnPaul Udoba.,” it adds.

Asigbo, a Professor in Theartre and Performance Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, explained that the project goal was to foster a sense of pride among the youth and encourage a deeper understanding of our cultural roots.

“The documentation will involve extensive research, interviews with community elders, and collaboration with local historians as well as sourcing of relevant materials and publications that habour historical accounts of Ndị Anam”, he stressed.

He further explained that the end product of the project will be accessible to everyone.

“We plan to publish our findings in various formats, including digital archives, printed materials, and community presentations, making the history of Anam available to all.

“We therefore, invite all members of the Anam community to participate in this endeavor. Your stories, experiences, and insights are invaluable to this project, and we believe that by working together, we can create a comprehensive account of Anam History of Origins that reflects the diversity and resilience of our people”, he adds.

“To this end, we encourage all interested individuals and organizations to reach out to us for collaboration or to share their stories.
Together, we can preserve the legacy of Anam and inspire future generations” .
